What is the TriFlo Inspiratory Exerciser by Able?

The Able TriFlo Breathing Exerciser is a deep breathing spirometer used to help exercise and strengthen the function of the lung muscles, so you can develop and improve your lung health.

This device has been constructed to encourage a slow Sustained Maximal Inspiration (SMI).

It is the most common of the pulmonary function tests (PFTs), measuring your lung function: the amount/volume and speed/flow of air that you can inhale and exhale.

How to use the Triflo 3 ball incentive spirometer?

1. Hold the respiratory trainer in the upright position at mouth level
2. Exhale normally and place your lips around the mouthpiece
3. Inhale slowly and deeply until lifting the first ball
4. If you need to increase the intensity of your inhalation, inhale at a rate to raise all 3 balls
5. Hold your breath for as long as possible
6. Remove the mouthpiece, relax and exhale
7. Repeat the process

If the ball in the first column is kept afloat for 1 second, the inhalation volume is 600ml/sec.

If the first AND second ball are kept afloat, the inhalation volume is 900 ml/sec.

If all 3 balls are kept at the top of the columns, the inspired volume is approximately 1200 ml/sec.
