A classic straight transfer board in polished laminated plywood. Bridge it between a wheelchair and the bed, car seat or armchair and the person slides across in stages instead of being lifted – saving the carer's back and giving the user more control over the move.

Using a transfer board
Bring the two surfaces as close and level as you can, lock all brakes and remove the wheelchair armrest on the transfer side. Slide one end of the board under the thigh and rest the other on the destination, then move across in small shuffles. The board is for sliding only and must not be used to lift.
