Buying guide

  • Clear cups let a carer see how much has been drunk and help the drinker see the liquid level.
  • Cups with controlled-flow lids or cut-out rims are often recommended for swallowing difficulties. Follow advice from a speech pathologist.
  • Thick, lightweight cutlery handles are easier for weak grip. Weighted cutlery can help steady hand movement.
  • Contrasting colours between plate, cup and table can help people with dementia or low vision.

Questions

What cup suits swallowing difficulties?

Choice depends on the person's needs. A speech pathologist can recommend the right cup and flow control.

Can I return a cup or cutlery?

Once opened, eating and drinking aids cannot be returned for hygiene reasons. Faulty items are covered by Australian Consumer Law.

Is there an NDIS invoice?

Yes. Claim-ready tax invoices are provided for self-managed and plan-managed participants.
