Buying guide

  • Measure the space either side of the toilet pan, and check the frame's overall width will fit between walls, vanities or cisterns.
  • Adjust armrest height so the person's elbows bend slightly when hands rest on the arms.
  • Freestanding frames need a level floor; check the feet sit evenly on your tiles.
  • If the person also struggles with toilet height, look for a frame with a built-in raised seat.
  • Check the maximum user weight before ordering.

Do toilet surrounds need installing?

Most freestanding surrounds simply sit around the pan and adjust with push buttons or screws. Toilet safety arms attach with the toilet seat bolts. Check each product page for fitting details.
